1. How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Cleaning carpets often helps to maintain its new appearance. Some people worry that cleaning too frequently will cause carpet to age more quickly, but the opposite is true. Allowing dirt to build up within a carpet's pile will age the carpet prematurelyThe majority of carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning by a professional cleaning firm at least once every 12 months.

2. Why should I clean my carpet that often if it doesn't look dirty?

Even in areas with minimal foot traffic, airborne dust and soil agents accumulate on carpet over time. When dirt is allowed to build up in a carpet's pile, it can scrape the fibers and give the carpet a "dirty" appearance that will remain even after professional cleaning. In other words, if you wait until the carpet looks dirty, it may be too late!

3. What method does Superior Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning use?

Hot water Extraction is the method of choice by most carpet manufacturers because of its greater effectiveness for removing soils and leaving our carpet looking its best.

4. Can steam cleaning harm my carpet?

Not a bit. In fact, steam cleaning, or "hot water extraction" as it is called in the carpet industry, is the cleaning method recommended by most carpet manufacturers as the best way to safely remove em
bedded dirt.
5. How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

It normally takes 4 to 6 hour for the carpet to feel dry enough to walk on, but this depends on other variables such as the thickness of your carpet the weather and the air circulation in your home. You can walk on the carpet right after cleaning, provided you wear socks of some kind or foot covering to keep oils on your feet from getting into the damp carpet. With our advanced equipment, many carpets are dry within just a couple of hours!

6. How can I keep my carpet looking good?

Vacuuming your carpet thoroughly every week will make a major difference in maintaining your carpet. Fact is that 80% of the soil in your carpet is of the loose, insoluble type.

7. How should I treat the spots if my pet has an accident?

The key is to blot up as much of the foreign matter as you can. Then flush the spot with a professional spot neutralizer or mix a spray bottle with 2 Tblsp White Vinegar, 2 Tblsp non-Bleaching dish detergent and fill with water. Now take a clean towel and blot, don't scrub, the spot. Call us as soon as is convenient to prevent changes in the appearance of your carpet.

8. What happens with other stains on my carpet?

Kool-Aid, wine, candle wax and most other stains should not be treated with one of the consumer products found in supermarkets. Your're more likely to set the stain or cause further discoloration. These products are generally intended for emergency use only and unless you follow the instructions closely can cause problems. A better solution would be to call us at your earliest convenience: we have the products and the knowledge to neutralize a wide variety of staining problems.
